German Design Award 2021 for the Diamond Exchange!
The jury of the German Design Council: "The glass dome, which covers almost the entire roof area, provides an exciting contrast to the historic architecture of the existing building and brings the building into the present in a quite spectacular way."
And that was exactly the intention of the design conceived by Heyligers design+projects in collaboration with ZJA .

The Diamond Exchange, Capital C Amsterdam has been awarded the National Steel Prize 2020. The national monument underwent a major renovation to a design by Heyligers design + projects in collaboration with architectural firm ZJA and has been restored to its former glory. The High Light, a special, naturally formed dome of steel and glass, shines on the roof. Distinctive is the way in which the High Light is both an eye-catcher and a self-aware sign, yet made so light that it acts to serve the historical monument.
Jury magazine 'Bouwen met staal' (Building with Steel)
Jury member Wico Ankersmit: “The majority of the restoration to Gerrit van Arkel's original design may be considered a success. After the building was given a modern roof structure in 1990, it has now been carefully restored to its original form and a contemporary volume has been added. The transparent and spherical new roof structure with organic lines is clearly present on the roof, but it is not. It leaves the original shape completely intact, is not obtrusive, but also offers an exciting, contemporary addition. Constructively it is a spectacular design, in which little extra steel has been used and is nicely fitted without appearing pompous. Here we see an innovative construction with sophisticated detailing. A combination of techniques in design and implementation, and that at an inner city location. Modern on classic. It makes sense.”
ZJA with Heyligers design + projects (architects), Zadelhoff B.V. and Sijthoff Media (client), Müller & van Tol (interior architect), Braaksma & Roos Architectenbureau (restoration architect), Van Milt Restorers (restorers): Pieters Bouwtechniek (constructor), DCV Bouw (structural contractor), Octatube (engineer and roof construction contractor) ), Studio Linse (interior architect High Light), NewKantoor (finishing contractor), Peak Development (development and project management).
The Diamond Exchange, Capital C Amsterdam, in Amsterdam has won the prestigious MIPIM Award 2020 for "Best Refurbished Building" during the Paris Real Estate Week. The renovation of the former 'Architectencie' building on the Keizersgracht in Amsterdam is nearing completion after more than 2.5 years.
In all respects a very challenging project in which the intensive cooperation between owner, architect and contractor paid off!
Efficient intervention with maximum results for Awareways in Utrecht.
The owner wanted an interior plan for the new housing (550 m2) of his fast-growing company. This with a very tight schedule and a fixed budget.
Heyligers d + p took up the challenge and delivered a convincing interior concept within two days and then a fully furnished office within 3 months.
How can people work safely in the office without drastic changes and high costs?
The government calls for a plan for the 1.5 m economy and the new phenomenon of 'social distancing'.
This is an issue that is not immediately easy to respond to, which is why Heyligers d+p has done this already for you.
The step-by-step plan in our '1.5 m Office Quickscan' gives an idea of which strategy and subjects we can think of
as being part of our specialism and our business as an interior architect.

On top of three office buildings at the World Fashion Center in Amsterdam, 600 apartments will be built. The developers Boelens de Gruyter and Kroonenberg Groep have signed a letter of intent with the municipality of Amsterdam for the realization of this 'residential area' on top of existing buildings.
The urban plan and most buildings have been designed by KCAP Architects & Planners. The building on top of Berghaus Plaza is designed by HEYLIGERS d + p and MVSA Architects. In about one and a half years the construction of the houses starts, three years later the project has to be finished.

Publication of HEYLIGERS' project for Pearson in the Creative Workplace Design-book by FRAME; 'The Other Office Three'.
The design belongs to the 'PLANTING CREATIVITY' category in the book as it - according to FRAME- tries to create and reinforce interaction in the working environment.
" Previously split over two sites, the new office brings two workforces with different habits and characteristics together under one roof. Located in the city’s Sloterdijk district, the new design is hoped to make both departments not only feel at home, but motivated to interact with one another in a comfortable work environment."

In March 2014 we were contacted by KROONENBERG GROEP, asking us to develop 80 parking lots for a future supermarket at the Molukkenstraat 200-308 (Amsterdam). Soon it turned out that there wasn’t enough space. Heyligers d+p came with a new concept whereby, by means of a ramp, the amount of parking lots could be realized: Parking on the roof! After a long and extensive procedure to obtain the needed conctruction licences and permits, and after a thoroughly renovation of both the building, the surrounding environment as well as a redivision of the entrance the Albert Heijn finally opened it’s new store today!
Covering 3500 m2, this Albert Heijn is the largest supermarket in the disctrict (Amsterdam oost).
From September 15, 2018, all ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certificates will no longer be valid. HEYLIGERS d+p did not want to wait for that and decided to move on to the new standard early. After the transition audit from the old to the new standard in September last year, we now had the first periodic external audit to validate our quality management system according to the new standard. We have successfully completed this audit!
ISO 9001 has a completely new structure: the High Level Structure (HLS). This simplifies the integration of management systems. The HLS also ensures that insight into the risks and opportunities, the compliance obligations and the wishes and expectations of stakeholders are the starting point for managing the organization and managing the business processes.
After months of intensive renovation, the apartments were completed and delivered, and the shop at the Rokin is ready for a new tenant. Before the demolition could start in March and the entire building could be made hull, there were quite a few months before the permit application was approved, in which several designs were submitted to the municipality, until it gave its approval on the current design. The shop at the Rokin is hereby delivered in shell-state so that the future tenant is free to determine the layout. The facade has been restored to its former glory with its oak wooden facade over the entire height of 4.10m! The contractor GF Deko has worked with great attention to detail and with love for the national monument during the entire renovation, and that is visible! It is a wonderful result. We can therefore look back with satisfaction on a successful project.
Heyligers won the pitch for the interior design for the engineering firm of the municipality of Amsterdam, on the Weesperstraat. The assignment covers approximately 4000m2, spread over 6 (partial) floors.
After successful phases of concept design and preliminary design we have now come to the final design phase.
The progress of the project can be followed by clicking here.
Frank Smoke’s House is open! A new shop combined with restaurant and diner. This is located at the Oostenburgervoorstraat in Amsterdam, only a few doors away from the original building where the smokehouse is located. Heyligers made the interior design with the bar and kitchen at the heart of the new location, it's form and material referring to the traditional smoke houses. Burned wood cladding forms a contrast to the light, calm rest of the interior.
The guests can enjoy the delicious salmon while sitting next to the big drying cabinet that is displaying the fish and other smoked products by Frank. During the day the shop is linked to the diner where people can have lunch or enjoy coffee at the bar. When the evening falls, and the restaurant comes to life, the warm lighted interior of Frank’s Smoke House forms a cozy new focal point in the neighourhood.
June 22nd Cobouw published an article about our design for the Provada 2017, Plaspoelpolder in Rijswijk.
"On the property fair Provada, Heyligers d+p presented a bold transformation project at the Verrijn Stuartlaan in Rijswijk. They presented their design for a hotel as a stimulant and incubator in the area affected by stubborn vacancy."

As in previous years Heyligers will be present at the Provada. De Provada is from the 30th of May to the 1st of June at the Amsterdamse RAI.
We can be found at the 'transformation square' and will present our plans for the transformation of Plaspoelpolder in Rijswijk.
Heyligers d+p has been asked to create the design for the new main EMM office in Zwolle. The new location covers an area of over one hectare and will supply office space, a modern logistics centre, test and practice rooms, and a knowledge and experience centre.
Heyligers d+p will make a new interior design for the new Sony office. Heyligers d+p is also responsible for the project management. Meanwhile, building work has started. Sony is expected to move at July 2017.
This year, 7 years after Heyligers designed the interior for the first office of Vistra Luxembourg, we were commissioned to make the design for a new, larger location (approx 4000m2). Last month the new office, located in the business district Kirchberg, was delivered. Vistra merged with Orangefield. The new building has five floors, including a conference floor and a management floor. Besides the usual "flexible" workplaces, this office contains concentration areas, phone booths, a boardroom, closed meeting rooms, open consultation areas, a restaurant and gym. On the work floor Hd+p created a central element where all general facilities are placed. Important starting points for this design were acoustics, lighting, wardrobes, re-use. Hd+p is responsible for design and project management.
Architectenweb pays attention to the development of the Diamond Exchange:
"The 'Diamantbeurs' (Diamond Exchange) on Weesperplein undergoes a transformation to the design of Heyligers d+p and ZJA Zwarts & Jansma Architects. The building will be home to Capital C, a center for the creative industries.
The monument was acquired in 2015 by Sijthoff Media Group and Brouwershoff. As regards to two buyers, when Capital C opens its doors here at the end of 2017, all domains of the creative industries are represented: advertising, design, media, digital, photography and art."
Leesman is a leader in measuring the effectiveness of the work environment. This is done through a fixed method, creating a benchmark of 200,000 respondents, with approximately 20 million data points. This gives a deep insight into how well the environments support the productive activities of the employees they accommodate.
Worldwide, only 4 percent of the work environments have scored above 70 on the Leesman Index (LMI). The new work environment of Heerema Marine Contractors scored 70.1 and, given the size of the building, this is a unique performance. With this the office of Heerema belongs among the top 4% of effective working environments in the world.
On July 13, the grand opening of the renewed Premium Check-in area in Departure Hall 2 at Schiphol took place, by none other than the CEO of KLM, Pieter Elbers and Maarten Koopmans, Director Operations Passenger Handling.
Heyligers d+p designed the fence, the layout of the Premium Check-in area, the KLM logo on the parapet with the blue light line and the lighting under the desks.
Like last year Heyligers will participate at the Provada. This will take place from 7-9 June at the Amsterdam RAI.
You will be able to find us on the 'Transformation Square' in Hall 9.
Our exact location will be listed on this page in due time.
Venstuco has acquired the monumental building on the Leliegracht 39 Amsterdam, to transform it into four apartments plus a studio in the basement.
Heyligers d+p has been asked to create the design and to provide the environmental permit for the renovation of this monumental building.
In 2013 Heyligers d+p won the pitch for the design of the fencing for the KLM Premium Check-in area in Departure Hall 2 at Schiphol Airport.
The implementation of the Corian fencing is provided by Roord Binnenbouw. The houses are formed by means of a mold after which they are milled clean.
Then the wholes for the blue LED lighting are made.
Heyligers is also responsible for the blue LED light line and the two KLM logos which have been mounted earlier.
In the January 2016 edition of PropertyNL Magazine Willem Heyligers, among others, talks about the changing office market.
Frank's Smoke House will be opening a restaurant and shop on Oostenburg in Amsterdam. The 'Fine food center' of owner Frank Heyn will be located at the intersection of Oostenburgergracht and Oostenburger- voorstraat and is part of construction project Wiener & Co. The smokehouse will continue at the Wittenburgergracht.
In the new facility, Frank will serve both restaurant guests and store guests with delicacies and sustainable smoked meat and fish. The shop will be located at the Oostenburgergracht side. Here, people can pick up food and delicacies. There is also the possibility to take a seat in a good atmosphere in the restaurant or the more casual food bar. Hd+p makes the interior design.
Scheduled opening: late 2016
In 2015 Hd+p have made the switch to BIM: Building Information Modeling. Our architects and designers have successfully completed an intensive course in ArchiCAD/BIM.
Ongoing projects will be completed this year, according to our conventional drawing method. All new projects have been set up in ArchiCAD since the 3rd quarter.
Hd+p is thus one of the first interior design parties that can work with BIM. Also in our transformation and refurbishment projects we will use the benefits of ArchiCAD and BIM as precisely in this area there is much to be gained.
There is a video with detailed explanation about BIM on YouTube:
Today (23-11-2015) the 'FD' newspaper published an article in which the procurement and distribution of energy in our country is explained. In the dealing room of Nuon in Amsterdam, the analysis of weather forecasts include a measure for the purchase of long- and short-term energy.
We have made the design of the trading room as part of the overall housing of Nuon (27.500m2 ). The unique design is aimed at not only a flow of information by screen, but also aims to optimally facilitate by the physical layout of the dealing room.
Heyligers d+p has been asked to make a design for the new Amsterdam office of Pearson; the world's largest educational publisher. Pearson's main focus points 'learning' and 'communicating' will be reflected in the design. In addition to an open work floor, there will be the possibility to meet & consult in various (online) ways. There will also be an 'experience space' where one can experience the identity and products of Pearson. The approx. 1300m2 office will be realized at the first quarter of 2016.
Early November Heerema moved into their new office building at Vondellaan in Leiden. OPL architects created the design for the hull of the building.
The concept for the interior of the 12-storey office building (22.000m2) is the 'seven seas'. The seven oceans are translated into different color ranges and materials. The interior consists of a comprehensive sustainability package as a result of which the complete building achieved a 'BREEAM NL' new building certificate with label 'Excellent'.
Vacant office in Amstelveen successfully transformed into rental housing: 54 apartments have been delivered with energy label A+. The project is an example of a successful transformation in which the number of rentable meters are increased.
One year after completion of the Dutch Naspers office in Hoofddorp, Heyligers d+p was requested to make another interior design. This time for an office in Berlin. Next spring, OLX, a business unit of the originally Cape Town-based Naspers, will take up residence in the John F. Kennedy Haus. This is located on Washington Square in the "new center" of Berlin. Naspers will occupy the 2nd floor. This floor, with a height of almost three meters, has story-high windows along the entire facade.
The design will be based on an open workspace concept in combination with the corporate identity of Naspers Hoofddorp. Hd+p is responsible for both design and project management.
Meanwhile, building work has started. Naspers is expected to move at the end of March 2016.
RIPE will be moving towards building 'de Oost', next to the Central Station in Amsterdam. There they will hire approximately 2500 m2 on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor.
After a qualifying round where eight parties were selected to present themselves, three remaining parties were chosen to submit a concept design.
Heyligers d+p have won the pitch.
Completion expected for mid-2016.
In the June 4 edition of the Property NL newspaper, specially released for the Provada, an article on the Diamond Exchange and Heyligers.
"The idea for a creative center comes from Willem Heyligers." It says a lot about these times that an architect comes up with the idea, "says Cor van Zadelhoff, the founder of DTZ."
Today is the launch of Provada 2015. The 'Transformation square' and also the Heyligers stand are well attended.
Heyligers d+p participates in the Provada 2015, from the 2nd to the 4th of June in the Amsterdam Rai.

We will be present at our stand for the length of the Provada and we hope to welcome you there on one of these days.
This summer, Koning & Hartman will move into the newly built 'The New Loft Office' in Amsterdam.
10 years after designing the current headquarters Heyligers d+p will make a new interior design for Koning & Hartman. This time for the new headquarters. Heyligers d+p is also responsible for the project management. The new office (approx 1000sqm) is located on the first floor of 'The New Loft Office' with a beautiful view of the Ziggo Dome and the Amsterdam Arena. The office will be open and industrial, yet it will have a warm feel. Meanwhile, construction works have started. It is expected Koning & Hartman can move in late August.
Heyligers d+p has created a concept design for the transformation of the 'Geelvinck building' at the Singel in Amsterdam. The project is in the design stage and covers approximately 6000sqm.
Heyligers d+p overcomes light, reflection and sight lines along with acoustics, engineering and ergonomics in a new design for the Dealing Room of the BNG Bank in The Hague. The entire hull is equipped with an offset and filled with an acoustic shell in which various functions such as storage, lockers, printers and wardrobe are integrated. Each employee receives optimal view and visibility through ultimate savings at the location of existing windows and doorways. The angled corners of the recesses are the result of extreme lines of sight. Artificial light is no longer in the technical landscape of the ceiling but is connected to the oval arrangement from which light shines upward, thereby preventing reflection in the screens.
The January 2015 edition of Architectenweb Magazine devoted considerable attention (6 pages) to our NUON project.
The connecting work environment.
"The new headquarters of Nuon, designed by Heyligers, is dedicated to meeting and exchange of knowledge."

Sijthoff Media Group and Management Brouwershoff have acquired the Diamond Exchange (Diamantbeurs) on Weesperplein. At this location, they will develop a new center for the Creative Industries.
In recent years the creative sector has transformed fundamentally by the emergence of new media. The new creative businesses are smaller than before and inspired more by collaboration, creativity and continuous innovation. There are a few examples of so-called corporate tenant buildings in the city. What is lacking is a central location where the main players are located.
Heyligers design + projects is the architect of this new center. The center opens its doors in the summer of 2016. Read more (dutch article)

On December 4 Marqt opened its ninth store. It is the sixth Marqt shop of which Heyligers d+p has the interior design.
In this smallest Marqt shop to date several commercial premises were merged, causing very many steel columns to be incorporated into the new layout. Also an extension was made at the back of the premises. Residents whose houses border this extension were given pretty terraces on the roof of the store in return.
The 27,000 m2 NUON office is nearing completion. The thorough redevelopment of the building dating from 1984 will soon offer an office environment which can compete with the most advanced offices in Europe. The office is designed to be fully in accordance with the principles of 'The New Way of Working'. The interior has substantially contributed to the BREEAM 'very good' certification.
Transformation, redevelopment and reuse, ultimately the only sustainable solution for the built environment.

Heyligers d+p has won the contract to design the new KLM premium check-in area in Departure Hall 2 at Schiphol airport.
The structural alterations of Departure Hall 2 require new solutions for the design of the check-in area of KLM. Natural wayfinding and optimal passenger flow in a recognizable branding and KLM look & feel are the starting points for the Premium area. In addition, the design should fit in well with the overall architecture of the airport. KLM chose the design of Heyligers d+p in which these qualities are combined clearly and unambiguously in the design.
