The ‘New Amsterdam’ complex was built 25 years ago and was recently fully transformed into a modern building with mixed destination: hotel, catering and for the most part (27.000sqm) the office of energy company Nuon.
Heyligers d + p was commissioned by Nuon in September 2012 to design the interior. Only 15 months later, the new office was inaugurated. With this Nuon transferred to “The New Way of Working”: a completely open and flexible work environment.
The interior consists of work floors divided into “neighborhoods” which are completely focused on a varied and flexible way of working. In addition, the building offers all facilities for its users: reception lobby with water bar, restaurant with 650 seats, library, espresso bar, service center, conference center and a sky lounge .
The building has been certified ‘BREEAM Very Good’. Points were earned on both the architecture itself as well as on the interior design to reach this successful durability class result. The latter is noteworthy because BREEAM is not yet focused on new workplace concepts, which causes high demands on the interior design.
The architectural renovation has been achieved by ‘de Architekten Cie’ led by Bramir Medic.
