Steltman Watches is the watch retailer in the Netherlands for mainly Swiss-made mechanical timepieces. For the new retail formula for the 300sqm Steltman Watches shop in The Hague, Heyligers design + projects has been awarded the contract to develop the whole concept and carry out activities from constructional supervision up until delivery. Heyligers d + p is an realized a shop-in-shop concept interior design. In this concept the major watch brands have the best opportunity to present their own identity with its brand expression and design. Steltman Watches has its own watchmaker atelier with two watchmakers which we have given a prominent place in the store, visible from throughout the store.
In 1963, Gerrit Rietveld developed a ‘Steltman seat’ for the old Steltman jewelry store. Heyligers d + p designed an impressive light object based on the outline of this chair, which is asymmetric and provides a surprising image from any angle. The light object hangs above the stairs making it possible to view this lamp from different perspectives.
